The Taxidermist

Twisted Oak Taxidermy is run by Austin, a licensed taxidermist based in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Licensed for both regular and avian taxidermy, Austin brings a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to every piece that comes through the shop.

What started as a passion for the outdoors turned into a craft — and then a business. Every mount that leaves Twisted Oak is built to last and designed to capture the moment your trophy was taken.

Austin is also an entrepreneur at heart, always looking for ways to grow and serve the community. When he's not in the shop, you'll find him outdoors, working with his hands, or helping other small businesses get off the ground.

Why "Twisted Oak"?

The name comes from the character of the land here in Surry County — old oak trees shaped by wind and time, still standing strong. That's the spirit behind the work: natural, rugged, built to last.
